David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: Visit to the cute baby elephants on the outskirts of Nairobi, right next to the Nairobi National Park<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you planning to spend a few days in Nairobi? There is a lot to discover in the capital of Kenya and the surrounding area. One of the most popular attractions is of course the Nairobi National Park. Particularly popular with tourists and also highly recommended is booking a combination package, consisting of a safari of several hours through the national park, a visit to the giraffe center in Nairobi and a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, or DSWT for short, specializes in the rearing, conservation and release of elephants and rhinos and is reportedly the world’s most successful station for rescuing and releasing elephant orphans.<\/p>\n

In the elephant orphanage, baby elephants who have lost their parents find a new home. Most of the parents of these elephants are victims of poaching. Mostly only the young are left, which starve to death in a very short time due to the loss of the herd or are the prey of predators if they are not found in time by rangers and brought to the orphanage of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust near the national park.<\/p>\n

Sick or orphaned young animals are raised here by hand. This station is operated by Daphne Sheldrick and is only open to visitors only 1 hour a day. The daily visitor numbers are correspondingly large. Because the majority of visitors to the national park book the combination package with a visit to the elephant rearing station.<\/p>\n

\nIf you are in Nairobi, visit the Nairobi National Park. It is best to book a combination package together with the David Sheldrick elephant rearing station and a visit to the Giraffe Center Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Then you are definitely on the go all day. I took also this tour when I was in Nairobi. It started at the hotel in the Nairobi Central Business District at 6 a.m. and around 5 p.m. I was back at the hotel.<\/p>\n
